ABOUT US
We are Steve and Pam Zicker, founders of Fields of Promise and parents of three biological and one adopted child. Steve is a veterinarian and nutritionist who works full time for a large pet food company. Pam is a licensed social worker with over 12 years experience in the field of adoptions, who has been home full time with our children. After adopting our son from Ethiopia in 2005, we felt God's leading to spend a year in Ethiopia with our family. Steve was awarded a teaching grant and we made preparations to leave in July of 2006. Meanwhile, Fields of Promise was founded out of a desire to be more intentional in promoting God's heart for the poor and the fatherless, and to enable us to explore opportunities while in Ethiopia to make a difference. We spent one year in Mekelle, Ethiopia from July 2006 until July of 2007. It was an amazing year with Steve teaching Veterinary students, Pam homeschooling the kids, and all of us fully taking in Ethiopian culture. We fell in love with the people and the country. We also had the opportunity to make contacts with local NGO's and people interested in working together to place children for foreign adoption from Ethiopia. Now that we are home, Pam is serving as Volunteer Executive Director of Fields of Promise Child Placing Agency, a non-profit 501(c)3 Corporation. |
