Transforming the Fields of the Fatherless into Fields of Promise, one Life at a Time

MISSION STATEMENT:  Our mission as an organization is to promote God’s heart for the fatherless, bringing their plight to the awareness of the church and global community. We encourage the church as a whole to take action by praying, going, giving, sponsoring, and adopting. In countries where Fields of Promise is placing children for adoption, this mission will expand to relieving and eliminating problems associated with poverty, blindness, special medical needs, and educational deficits.  While some activities of Fields of Promise may be in support of its role as a Child Placing Agency, it’s primary mission remains as stated earlier.

Fields of Promise is a registered 501c3 non-profit and a licensed child placing agency in the state of Kansas.    We have no salaried staff in the U.S., which results in maximum impact for your donations.

OUR HISTORY:  Fields of Promise was started in April of 2006, when Steve and Pam Zicker and their 4 children prepared to move to Ethiopia to live and teach for one year.   Steve is a veterinarian and nutritionist, and Pam is a licensed adoption social worker.  As adoptive parents of now two Ethiopian children, they also have a passion for helping orphans and seeing them find forever families.  During their year in Ethiopia, several opportunities arose to partner with an existing NGO and assist the people that God put in their path.  Humanitarian programs are the heart of our organization, to not only be Christ's hands and feet among the needy, but to also partner with like-minded organizations that share our desire to meet physical and spiritual needs.

OUR FOCUS:  Fields of Promise has grown to encompass four major areas of focus.  These include blind student services, orphan outreach and medical outreach through our indigenous partner, Operation Rescue.  See more information about them on our Related Links page.  Another area of focus is veterinary training and development, done mostly in collaboration with the Mekelle University Department of Veterinary Medicine and Christian Veterinary Mission.  Finally,  we are working in collaboration with a licensed Ethiopian adoption agency to promote some of our waiting children from Ethiopia for international adoption.  Because orphan ministry is one of major areas of focus it fits naturally with our overall mission to see true orphans become part of permanent families.  Pam Zicker, LMSW is serving as the volunteer Executive Director alongside a terrific Board of Directors.  Please explore the site further to find out more about our programs and how you might be able to join us in our mission!

"When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands."
