Fields of Promise has been privileged to work with 12 families up to this point for their Ethiopian adoptions. 6 families have already brought their children home, which means that 9 children, ranging in age from 3 years to 13 years, are now home with their forever families! We are so thankful to be part of this process! 5 more children should be home by summer '09. Here are just some of the new families formed through older child adoption:
Two girls, one front left and the other giving a thumbs-up, joined their waiting siblings on the East coast in August, 2008. Both of them were blessed to become part of a wonderful family who will teach them, launch them into the world, and love them forever!
This little one, pictured on the right, was our first resident in House of Promise #1 back in June, 2008. She was HIV + and since we didn't have the staff and medications to keep her at that time, we had to transfer her to AHOPE in Addis. Shortly thereafter, her new forever family paid a visit during their trip to pick up their other 3 toddlers. They fell in love with her, and began the work to bring her home. She travelled home in March, 2008, through AAI and has blossomed ever since! She now is doing so well that she is sero-negative and unable to transmit the disease to others. Her family feels so blessed to have her, and we are thankful God allowed us to share a small role in her little life. With our new House of Promise #3, we are now caring for HIV+ orphans, and because of our new collaboration with WACAP, adoption of these children will now have greatly reduced fees! Praise God!
