  • Homestudy and post-placement services for domestic or international adoptions
  • Limited birthparent services for those considering their options
  • Referral services for resources, counselors, grants, or domestic adoption networking
  • Education for families about pre-adoption preparation and post-adoption resources

Because of our passion for Ethiopia, and our desire to see older children find families, we are actively recruiting Christian adoptive families for waiting children.  Most of the children in our homes are older, ranging in age from 5 to 15, with some sibling groups.  We also have several children with special needs who are HIV positive or blind and in need of special families. Though most families are interested in adopting infants, our experience while living in Ethiopia for a year was that most orphanages and care homes are filled with older orphans rather than newborns.  Our passion is for finding families for waiting children, rather than finding children for adoptive families.  There is such a need for families who are willing to consider these older children. It is our desire that Fields of Promise can play a role in putting children and families together.  If you have a heart for older children or special needs children or want to help us in locating a special family for them, click on the Waiting Children page or email adopt@fieldsofpromise.org.  Please understand that Fields of Promise is NOT licensed to process adoptions in Ethiopia and the entire process from beginning to end would be handled by WACAP, a very reputable, ethical, Hague Accredited adoption agency out of Seattle, WA.  The role Fields of Promise plays is in caring for the children and identifying which ones may be in need of permanent families.

(Above) Eyerusalem, age 9, with her new 4 siblings.  She came home in February, 2008 through FOP's former collaboration with International Adoption Guides.  Since 2007, FOP has collaborated with 4 different agencies to facilitate older-child placements.  Between February of 2008 and January of 2010 16 children ranging in age from 1 to 13 years arrived home with their permanent families.  5 more children are already matched through WACAP and awaiting placements in 2010!
